Frequently Asked Questions
Comprehensive answers to common questions about our basalt products, ordering, delivery and technical specifications.
Products
What is basalt stone and where is it used?
Basalt is a hard, volcanic-origin natural stone. It is widely used in road pavements, curbs, sidewalks, building facade cladding, landscaping projects, stair treads and interior flooring. It stands out with its high compressive strength and frost resistance.
Which basalt products do you manufacture?
We produce in 8 main product categories: basalt curbs, cobblestones (cut and split), paving stones, slabs and cladding, flooring, channel stones, tactile paving and basalt aggregate/sand. Each product is prepared in desired dimensions and surface finishes.
Which surface finishes do you apply?
We apply 7 different surface finishes: natural surface, honed, polished, sandblasted, antiqued (patinated), bush-hammered and tumbled. We recommend the most suitable surface finish for your project needs.
What is the difference between basalt and granite?
Basalt is volcanic-origin, dark-colored and very hard. Granite is magmatic-origin with a wider color range. Basalt is generally preferred for outdoor paving and curbs, while granite is favored for interior countertops and cladding. Basalt is more frost resistant.

Technical Information
What is the compressive strength of basalt stone?
The average compressive strength of basalt stone is between 300-400 MPa. This value is much higher than other natural stones like granite and marble, making basalt ideal for infrastructure projects.
Is basalt stone frost resistant?
Yes, basalt stone shows high resistance to frost. With its low water absorption rate (0.1-0.5%), it is extremely resistant to freeze-thaw cycles. Due to these properties, it is suitable for outdoor use in cold climates.
Is basalt stone slippery?
Natural basalt stone generally has a non-slip surface. Especially honed, sandblasted and bush-hammered surface finishes increase the non-slip properties. These finishes are recommended for pool areas and wet zones.
Does basalt stone require maintenance?
Basalt stone is a natural stone that requires minimal maintenance. It does not need special care beyond regular cleaning. Optionally, water-repellent impregnation can be applied.
